This May, by the invitation of the Orthodox Church of Hong Kong, acclaimed pianist Sadakatsu Tsuchida will take the stage at the Sheung Wan Civic Centre Theatre. Audiences are invited to experience a rare chronological musical journey through the life and works of legendary composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. The concert is scheduled for Sunday, 17 May 2026, at 3:00 PM.

Born in Tokyo in 1975, Tsuchida is a distinguished graduate of the Toho Gakuen School of Music and the prestigious Moscow Conservatory, where he trained under renowned instructors such as V. Merzhanov. Tsuchida solidified his international reputation in 2002 by winning First Prize at the 3rd International Rachmaninoff Piano Competition. His cultural contributions have even been formally recognized with certificates of appreciation from the Mayor of Perm, Russia, and Leonid Kuchma, the second President of Ukraine.

As a performer, Tsuchida has appeared at Japan’s premier venues and toured extensively across Europe and Asia, collaborating with esteemed conductors like V. Fedoseyev. Beyond his performance career—which includes his 2-CD set Rachmaninoff: 24 Preludes—he is an accomplished author of Play Rachmaninoff and the 2023 research volume Issō. He currently serves as a professor at Shōkei Gakuin University and a lecturer at Miyagi Gakuin Women's University.
