Orthodox Community Rector Fr. Ioann Shchelokov  visited Hong Kong Orthodox Church

Hong Kong, April 30, 2023 - Fr. Ioann Shchelokov, the rector of Shanghai's Orthodox community, visited Hong Kong during the Easter season to join a celebration in the Hong Kong Orthodox Church of Sts. Peter and Paul. Fr. Dionisy Pozdnyaev, the rector of the church, and local Chinese priest Fr. Anatoly Kung lead the service.

The concelebration was attended by many mainland Chinese believers, who came to join the liturgy. The event was marked by a special joyful mood as believers celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ in Easter season.

The event had a missionary effect and brought together believers from different backgrounds and cultures.

Fr. Ioann's visit also highlighted the need for common work and cooperation between orthodox parishes to normalise the current status of the Orthodox Church in China. The concelebration in the Hong Kong Orthodox Church of Sts. Peter and Paul was a symbol of the spiritual unity of Chinese and Russian Orthodox faithful, and it serves as a reminder that the Chinese Orthodox Church is a struggling part of the Orthodox Church of the Universe.

The liturgy was held on April 30, 2023, and it was a joyous occasion that united believers from different cultures. The event was a powerful demonstration of the spiritual vitality and strength of the Orthodox Church and its enduring ability to bring people together in faith.
