Icon of Our Lady of Hong Kong

In order to show its love for the Most Holy Theotokos, the Church keeps the tradition of painting icons of the Mother of God, especially related to certain places or memorable events. Such icons are called «local». With the request for the patronage of the Mother of God above the Church and its people on those local places, special prayers are raised where these icons are venerated. At the request of our parish, one of the best icon painters of St. Petersburg, who had already painted one icon for our church, began work on creating the sacred image of Our Lady of Hong Kong. This image will be placed in our Church. Part of the funds needed to paint the icon, are collected in Wiesbaden, Germany - the place of repose of the daughter of the first rector of our parish, Archpriest Dimitry Uspensky, in his memory. We raised 1,000 Euro with this offering.

We are asking you to participate in the raising of funds for painting of the icon of Our Lady of Hong Kong. Your names and the names of your loved ones will be commemorated in our prayers before this icon.The prayer before the sacred Hong Kong image of the Mother of God will be a special patronage and blessing for you if your life or your work is bounded with Hong Kong. This icon also will be one of the shrines of the Orthodox Church in China, where we will offer prayers for the Orthodox Church in mainland China.

The total amount of funds needed to paint and deliver icon to Hong Kong is 2,400 US dollars. We will publish a weekly donation report until the required amount will reached. Let the Mother of God will bless your offer!
