Bishop of Hong Kong Catholic Church received congratulations at his inauguration
Hong Kong held a inauguration ceremony for the Catholic Bishop.
Rector of the Hong Kong Orthodox parish Most Rev. D.Pozdnyaev greet new Bishop with inauguration by the invitation of Cardinal John Tong.
The Vatican stressed that Hong Kong and Macao remain the only place on Chinese territory, where Church has full freedom in appointing bishops. In the main territory of the People's Republic of China, the Catholic Church has no such freedom.
The experience of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong in contact with the People's Republic of China is an important example of the Orthodox Church.
The Hong Kong Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, attended the inauguration of the new Bishop, her Catholic faith is was well known among Hong Kong residents.
