Moleben on the New Year

Prayer Service on the blessing of the New Year time celebrated in Hong Kong

On the last day of 2017 after the Sunday Liturgy, the clergy and parishioners of the St. Peter and Paul Parish gathered for a moleben about the upcoming New Year (according to the civil calendar). On this moleben prayers were offered with thanks for the time of the past year, as well as prayers for the blessing of the time of the coming year.

This time the celebration was noted with a special event: the icon of the Intercession of the Mother of God which was unofficialy named "Circumnavigation" was presented in the Church for the prayerful veneration. By the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion of New York and East America and with assistance of the Foundation "Under the Protection Veil of the Mother of God" this icon was brought to Russia, Cyprus, the Holy Land, Australia and the US. It was venerated in Orthodox parishes with special prayers for protection of the faithful of the Russian Orthodox Church around the world.



As a gift to the St. Peter and Paul Parish, the President of the Foundation E.E. Korolev offered a stone from the Holy Tomb of the Lord, which was found during the recent restoration of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.
